I don't understand your aversion to tax havens. I don't see individuals who make the effort to keep more of their income as a problem. This will only serve to "feed the beast" and not make it easier to the level the playing field.
Regards,

1) Very reliable liberal voting record -- one of the most consistent in the senate.
2) Went to a church for many years that preached the black version of the social gospel.
3) His core team is composed of Democratic ideologues for the most part, with a smattering of "business Democrats" (my term), like Bob Rubin, Buffett, etc. The wealthy Hillary supporters are behind him now, and he won't pursue policies that affect them dramatically.
My tax proposal is more populist than Obama's because it takes away the sheltering of income. Many rich Democrats would scream, as would many Republicans.
4) Ran a bland, high-sounding campaign that was light on specifics. As did McCain.
5) We've had more than our share of soundbites where he sounds like a redistributionist.
Taking a point from Matt, I will stick my neck out and say Ron Paul is one of the few economically literate members of Congress. They should have him do an economic orientation class for incoming Freshman members of Congress. Alas, I want him in Bernanke's role....

All — in hindsight I would have used the word “servant” not “slave.” Here’s why:

1) Very reliable liberal voting record — one of the most consistent in the senate.

2) Went to a church for many years that preached the black version of the social gospel.

3) His core team is composed of Democratic ideologues for the most part, with a smattering of “business Democrats” (my term), like Bob Rubin, Buffett, etc. The wealthy Hillary supporters are behind him now, and he won’t pursue policies that affect them dramatically.

My tax proposal is more populist than Obama’s because it takes away the sheltering of income. Since he couldn't even drop the brand, I'd say that we're in for a bunch of populist, union-loving, nanny-state crap for which the Democrats have a propensity.
David: The only thing you are allowed to say about Obama on the Internet is, "Obama is Jesus." If you suggest that he is a politician, the Obamites will be all over you. You also can't write favorably about Ron Paul or you will lose credibility.
Just some tips about Internet politics to keep the extremists from giving you the business. Enjoy :D

If Obama really wanted change, he should have started with the “D” behind his name. I'm also curious about the phrase “slave to Democratic special interests." I'm wondering who that phrase refers to. It seems to me that the kind of tax reform that you support would disproportionately affect the rich, as they have more unrealized capital gains. Why would this not be an issue that Democrats would get behind?

Hi David,

I’m also curious about the phrase “slave to Democratic special interests.” I’m wondering who that phrase refers to. I'm curious on what basis you say that Obama is a "slave to Democratic special interests." While recognizing that any politician will tend to favor the interests of the party that elected him I see no evidence that Obama is a "slave" to those interests. I could make the counter argument that he was elected in spite of the traditional democratic power brokers who broadly favored Hillary.

David.
