Mark Zandi of economy.com spoke yesterday at a regional economics conference in Boston. He opined that the auto industry should be forced into bankruptcy, and only then given financing. There was much nodding of heads in agreement. This idea could receive a lot of popular support. I do wonder, though, whether Congress has the will to throw the UAW under the bus if necessary....
