  1. “Someone tell the GOP that a SS payment will get skipped in 2032.”-You mean the insolvency? Something “should be done”, right? Or just let the automated cuts commence? That may be the trigger of the next “real depression” (just a wild guess).

    Retirement: Until ~80 years ago, today’s retirement age didn’t get reached by most, so the actuarial math didn’t/doesn’t work. Some action has to be taken, I think (or markets will probably panic as the insolvency approaches). Saying that SS systems are “untouchable” (= unmentionable), doesn’t work, and neither does trying to scare people into action. Waiting to retire past ~ 65 for manual laborers (e.g. trades), isn’t possible (for most). For those of us with the fancy educations/lives, it’s easy to say “keep working”.
